Job Description
The De Beers Mineral Processing Learnership is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to begin your career in the mineral processing industry. As a learner, you will assist the Senior Plant Foreman or Supervisor in a variety of responsibilities targeted at ensuring the plant’s seamless functioning. Monitoring the process flow, maintaining safety compliance, and even evaluating plant samples will be among your tasks. Here are some of the important areas in which you will be involved:
First and foremost, you must ensure a safe working environment by following all safety, health, and environmental regulations. In the mineral processing industry, safety is of the utmost importance.
Plant Standards: You will assist in the maintenance of plant standards and parameters, noting any violations. This guarantees that the facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
Downtime Reduction: Reduce downtime and operational interruptions by reporting any deviations from the norm as soon as possible.
Shift Reporting: Communicate plant status to the appropriate Foreman or Supervisor during shift changes.
Plant Inspection: Perform frequent physical inspections of the plant and equipment, reporting any deviations and corrective measures as needed.
Sampling and Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze samples to evaluate process unit efficiency and offer improvement recommendations.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this learnership, you must have the following qualifications:
A Grade 12 certificate or a related NQF Level 4 qualification in Mathematics. Possession of a valid EC/Code 10 driver’s license.
A Level 2 National Certificate in Mineral Processing (Advantageous).
A medical certificate stating that you are fit to work in a plant environment (Red or Blue area plant).
For Red Area positions, be prepared to undergo polygraph testing.
A clean SAPS criminal record and qualification verification are required.
Knowledge and Competencies

Be able to communicate well in English.
